During his talks with Turkish President, Ayub Khan discussed the events with the head of the State about the essential importance of the CENTO for the security and strength not only for the partners but also for regions far beyond the frontiers of three countries. That need was keenly felt for concerting more effective military measures. With Iraq out of the picture, there was an increase in the alliance’s unity and Iran, Turkey and Pakistan felt Brotherly regrets over Afghanistan’s unwillingness to join the alliance (The Dawn 9 November 1959).
