The significance of trade unions in Omar

Employers are expected to perceive trade unions as partners as
opposed to adversaries. Trade unions can serve as a very good conduit
through which employers can communicate with employees. Trade unions are
very well organized institutions. As such, they are well conversant
with issues such as company policy, safety standards and other issues
related to work. Employers can therefore use these unions to pass
communication regarding these issues down to the employees. Different
companies have reacted differently to the issue of trade unions in Oman.
Some of them recognize the essence of the same and have done a lot to
facilitate their establishment. These are the employers who do
appreciate the fact that they can gain policy and communication benefits
through the unions. Other employers have opted to take a passive role
as regards the formation of these unions. As such, they have chosen to
sit back and assess the impact of the unions first. Lastly, there are
employers like the Al Badar Marble who have opted to oppose the
formation of these unions
